The waves aren’t as good down there but it was the first day the water was warm enough for just trunks and the weather was perfect. San Onofre is really great too because there’s not really any houses or developments so it’s like a mini getaway. Jack had a blast balancing on the surfboard and playing in the sand as always and Frank was happy just to be included I think, though he also got to chase his ball around the beach all day. On the way home we even stopped and got Fogata, my favorite place to eat. I can honestly say that at least once a day, and especially on days like these, I can’t believe how blessed I am to have such a perfect family. Click the picture for more photos from the day.

The two of them have always had a pretty good time together but lately Jack can’t seem to get enough of hugging, patting and when frank isn’t expecting it, tackling him. These are just a few photos so you can see for yourself how good of friends these two are. So awesome.

The day before Fathers day we headed out to my Dad’s house to spend the day with him, my grandma, my sister and her two little boys. The three of the boys together is pretty out of control but they have a great time. I think my dad has the most fun of all though. When we got there he had two big pools blown up for them, an air mattress and tons of toys to play with, not to mention a whole bbq for us. Jack thought it was all pretty cool.

Some more film. Since we had jack one thing I always notice is how different our daily lives and surroundings have become. What used to be a spotless house and yard has become a giant playground. All the litle signs of Jack around never cease to make me feel so stoked. Piles of toys, his clothes, his shoes, his toy cars, all of it really make me realize how important he is to us and how i can’t remember what life was like before we had him. Anyway, i recently decided to try and document some of the still lifes that arise around our house these days because I have this feeling that someday when he’s all grown I’ll miss all these little signs of him at this age.

Some new film

Most of the time it’s been b&w but recently I’ve been on a color film kick so that’s what I’ve been shooting. The only problem is the last good color processing place went out of business so I am forced to take them to a one hour place. But even still, the way film looks still looks better to me than digital, even with the color shifts and grain.

Shoes like dad

Apparently shoe companies think that kids want to dress like lunatics, or maybe just that their parents want to dress them that way. Even a company like vans only seems to make their toddler sized shoes in the most bananas colorways. However, after a very long search we finally located a pair of the basics for Jack, the classic vans in black. I wish they’d had navy too but for now the black will do.

I sold the hasselblad a while back and I can’t begin to express how much I regret it. However, I don’t regret what a pain it is to deal with the film, processing, and of course scanning or printing. These photos are a few of the last ones I shot with it before I sold it. The colors are pretty bad because I scanned them on our busted scanner at work. But they are of Jack so they definitely aren’t all bad.

So we have this problem right now. Dad lets jack draw wherever he wants but mom doesn’t. I just can’t help it though, I love seeing him draw and have so much fun and I don’t have the heart to tell him no when he moves from the paper to the walls, windows, frank and anything else he can reach. In this picture Erica decided to let him have some fun with one of her make-up pens. He had a great time drawing on himself and we gave him a heart on his chest and a fish on his arm just like dad. He spent the rest of the day showing everyone the fish, everywhere we went. I also just bought him some washable paints which he has gone nuts with, we’ll have some pics of that up really soon.

THE AQUARIUM AGAIN

I think we’re going to get an aquarium membership because we all like it so much, especially Jack. This was his second time but the first time he was still a little young to understand. This time he was in full effect and having a blast. His favorites seemed to be the otters again, the sea turtle and the seals. He likes all the rest too though and by thhe end of the day he was so excited we could hardly keep up with him. We’re definitely looking forward to our next aquarium trip and I have no doubt that he is too.
